Тихий сон по горах ходить,

За рученьку нiчку водить.

I шумлять ліси все тихше,

Сон малих звiрят колише.

Не шуміть, ліси зелені,

Спати йдіть, вітри студені.

Най малята сплять здорові,

Най їм сняться сни чудові.

Аж на небі зазоріє,

Сонце їх малих зогріє.

I зогріє, й поцілує,

I світами помандрує.

Осип Маковей wrote this poem in 1899 (source). It is sung to the melody of the chorus of "Go West" by the Village People. It is unknown who put the lyrics to this melody.

Ігор Бущак credits the lyrics to Олександр Олесь and the melody to Александр Алєксандров in the intro to his rendition for the song. This is incorrect.
