Intro from Mickey and Bunny - Country Roads:
Although this is an English-Canadian song by Anne Murray (sic), it tells the story about a cotton mill in the southern United States. We found the meaning to be very similar to the Ukrainian pioneer days in small towns like Stuartburn, Gardenton, or Vita, Manitoba. For Ukrainian farmers, the true people of the soil, used to grow their wheat and haul it to a stone mill to lay in their winter supply of flour. Always there was a tired old miller at the end of each day going home to his wife who rubbed his aching back to ease a tired body. But only to wake him up at the break of the next day to begin his labors anew.
