The vocal group Trio Konvalia was formed by Marusia Jurkiw (Jarockyj), her sister Olia Jurkiw, and best friend Darka Holysh. They first played in 1968 at a folk music festival in Rochdale, England, where their singing style garnered them great acclaim. Many performances duly followed for Ukrainian audiences at numerous concerts and festivals. In 1968 the band first performed to an international audience in Munich, Germany and the following year commenced a European tour including stops throughout England, Belgium, Germany, and France. In 1970 they were guest artists at the celebrations of the Ukrainian Free University in Munich and in 1972 appeared on the British TV program "Opportunity Knocks". TV appearances followed at Granada Television in Manchester and Border Television in Carlisle. Many guest appearances on Radio programs for BBC radio generated huge interest as Trio Konvalia sang songs only in Ukrainian as a mark of respect for the language of their parents, the Ukrainian language having been severely restricted and at times banned in the Soviet Union. Poems by the dissident Vasyl Symonenko were put to music by Trio Konvalia and their first album was released in 1971 titled "Konvalia", which means Lily of the Valley, the title of a famous Ukrainian poem by 19th century feminist poet Lesia Ukrayinka.

A second album of traditional and modern Ukrainian folk songs followed in 1973 titled "Evening Bell". In 1975 during Holy Year, Trio Konvalia was invited by Patriarch Yosyf Sipij to perform at the Vatican auditorium during the Ukrainian Catholic Holy Year celebrations where they sang their famous signature song "Mamo". As a memento of the celebration Trio Konvalia issued a 7" single with the Patriarch's speech at St Peter's Basilica and the song "Homage to the Patriarch". It was to be their last recording. Konvalia performed live for nearly a decade up until Olia Jurkiw emigrated to Canada to work as a lecturer in Alberta in 1977. Maru emigrated to Melbourne Australia in 1981 to continue her career as an architect. The trio reunited in Manchester for a final performance in 1986.

Trio Konvalia, three English girls with Ukrainian refugee parents playing with guitars and a mandolin singing modernised folk songs in Ukrainian had developed a folk style of harmony singing which was unique for the times. Their signature song "Mamo" has been recorded by countless musical groups and choirs in Europe, Ukraine, Canada and America. It is still being sung today in 2022 and can often be heard at Ukrainian Youth camps and Ukrainian Scouts gatherings. Trio Konvalia with their upbeat modern folk style of Ukrainian singing has to this day an enduring worldwide following. Since uploading their music to Youtube their music can now be heard by a brand-new audience with thousands of views now registered.
